Lose Weight without a Fad Diet

When people want to lose weight they think of going on a diet. A diet is good for short-term weight loss, but people that lose a lot of weight fast almost always gain it all back plus more. There are so many diets out there like the Adkins, grapefruit, you name it and it's out there. The worst part of all is that people keep on buying into it, wanting a miracle way to lose the weight fast.

I'll tell you right now, there is no way you're going to lose a ton of weight fast and keep it off, especially on a diet. When you're on a diet you usually follow rules of whatever diet you might be trying, and it usually has food you don't normally eat, so you most likely won't stick to it long. The Adkin's diet especially is very risky and detrimental to your health if you are on it too long. First, they eliminated all carbohydrates from your diet; when they did this, many people following the diet died. This is because your body needs carbohydrates to function because that is your basic source of energy. Without carbohydrates your body has to rely on fats and proteins for energy. It is harder for your body to break down fats and proteins into simple blood sugar for energy, so your body will start converting proteins into ketones. When it does this, you start to see many problems occur from heart to liver . . . maybe even to death.

The absolutely best thing you can do to lose weight and actually keep it off is to cut out some calories here and there throughout your day. You can do this by simply cutting out a candy bar, coke, ice cream, or any other snack you might have that has a high number of calories for a nutrient less food. If you think about it, walking a mile you might lose 100 calories, but cutting out ice cream out of your day could help you lose 300 or more. If you start cutting calories out of your normal diet, you might actually keep to the routine and accomplish your goals.

Remember that you didn't gain all that weight over night, so you shouldn't try to lose it that fast either. You can also better your chances of losing the weight and keeping it off by exercising one hour per day, at least five days a week. This can be as simple as having a brisk walk around your neighborhood. Also remember that it is healthy to lose half a pound to one pound a week and keep it off. You see people on "The Biggest Loser" losing ten to twenty pounds a week. That would be nice in a perfect world, but you should know that they're all being watched and monitored by doctors and nutritionists constantly.
