Speed up your Metabolism

Question: How do I speed up my metabolism?

Answer:
Everyone has seen the guy or girl who can eat whatever they want whenever they want without gaining weight. Your sitting worrying about eating too much or the wrong food, while your friend is scarfing down Big Macs and bowls of ice cream. Everyone's metabolism is different and is usually the fastest when you're young. As you age and become more sedentary, it slows down. You can help fight the aging and slowing of your metabolism though by changing minor things in your daily life.

Eat breakfast! By eating breakfast, you're starting your day off right and not making your body starve in the morning. By skipping breakfast, your body doesn't know when it'll be fed again, so whenever you eat, it'll store it as fat. Eat a healthy breakfast like oatmeal, whole wheat toast, fiber enriched cereal, fruit, or anything that is lower in fat and high in nutrients.

You also need to workout. By working out you're creating lean muscle mass and lean muscle mass requires more energy, so you basically burn calories just sitting back and watching TV. You'll want to workout at the gym at least 3 days a week and do workouts that hit all of your major muscle groups. You need to also make sure you don't skip out on cardio, whether you do the treadmill, bike, stair stepper, or the elliptical machine. Also sprinting is great for increasing your metabolism by making your cells work harder because of the quick bursts.

Eat 4 to 6 smaller meals a day. Make sure you pack your meals with some protein and whole grains to make you feel full longer. By eating smaller meals more often, you keep your body constantly burning calories.

By changing these few things in your everyday life, you can increase your metabolism and help turn your body into a fat burning machine.
