If I run, will my legs get skinnier or will they grow muscle?

(This question was asked by a young woman in her early twenties.)

Your legs will become more muscular if you run sprints and short distances. The path to skinnier legs lies in running long distances. (Just for us guys, please, don't let them get too skinny - haha!)
